Hi fellow Dakota owners -

I had custom ordered a 4x4 quad cab in Dec 2003, it arrived by train in Jan 04. A good lucking truck (two-tone, 17" rims, SLT package). I took it out in the dirt and mud immediately and hauled all sorts of stuff for friends and family, a good work pony, then 6mos later some guy in a van pulls a left turn in front of me. My truck should have been totaled but the insurance said because it was customized it was worth more $ and they would repair it.

$18K later, and with fury and rage I have been dealing with cracking noises in the front suspension and brakes, vibrating brakes (which is being rerepaired by the insurance). I have been a nightmare to my insurance company and the repair shop. Everyone has pissed me off to the point that I have endeavored to make their lives as miserable as they have made mine - and perhaps I am succeeding. The repair shop has been wiped off the referral list due to my pointing out their incompetence and conduct (being a female they think I don't know s#@& about quality repairs), the insurance has been willing to pay for more repairs after the initial settlement because I reported them to the insurance bureau.

All in all, I am enjoying my truck to its fullest and it is a good truck. I survived the accident, with no major injuries - hitting a full size van at 40mph. The truck has held up well in my 4x4 adventures (I will give the repair shop some credit on that).

Although the body shop has done a good job, they screwed up on alot of things. These things may or may not affect the safety of the truck, but it isn't obvious and nothing has happened to say that it is unsafe. The point is, it was a brand new custom ordered truck - the accident wasn't my fault, so I feel I should be where I was before the accident. A NEW truck - but they want to play their game to save themselves money, so I will play that game too!

Anyhow, that is my story. My truck wouldn't be a good example of Dodge quality since it was in an accident - but I have no leaks in the cab like others have complained about. I do have a strange resonating noise in the exhaust whenever the weather is cold and damp. It has done this since the day I got it. The dealer replaced the exhaust and cat but it still does it. The resonation vibrates under the front passenger side. It is very strange - it usually goes away after the truck warms up. If any of you are familiar with this please let me know, it's a mystery to me and the dealer.
