I am looking at "upgrading" my 1995 CC 4x4 3.9L auto to a 2002 QC 4x4 4.7L auto. I know many people have used superchips to increase performance.

Have any of you ever used any of the tuners to increase gas milage?

I am specifically looking for increasing milage on long higway trips.

hey dan,
i just got my superchip tuner last thursday. i havent noticed an improvement in gas mileage yet because i need to remove some lead from my right foot. i also just got my tonneau cover and installed it on saturday. i am running the 91 octane performance program and i just filled up yesterday with 93 octane. i am trying to take it easy on it for this tank full to see what my gas mileage is like now with the superchip and tonneau cover. so far, i have noticed an improvement in gas mileage. i already have 150 miles and my gas mileage is at 3/4. i usually only get about 80 miles to that point. when i fill up next time, i will post my mileage results.

Dave - I read that other post. You have the 3.9L V6 right? I wonder if anyone here has noticed improved milage on 4.7L.

I was going to get a actron scanner but if I buy this 02 dak, i'll probably spend that money on a tuner instead.

After running my Durango with the 87 octane program I now consistenlty get around 16.5 MPG. Without it I was resigned to 15.5 MPG at best with the kind of driving we put it through. This is of course driving without using up the increased power (not much on 87) and better shifting characteristics. (Wheel spins, etc.)

Running either one of the 91 programs gives a noticable power bump. I have been running the 91 programs in my Dakota for quite some time now and have noticed no decrease in the MPG (when not towing) than what I got in stock tune. It might be a few tenths better, but not a gain like in my Durango.

What's your left foot doing?

yea i have a 3.9 v6 2wd with 3.55 gears and open diff. the one disadvantage that i have is that i have the quad cab. it is pretty dang heavy for the 3.9. i am seriously considering changing to 4.10 gears with limited slip. that should help out alot.
