Anyone happen to see where DC layed off 26,000 employees. Supposedly 1/4 of the DC workforce.

OH, i see. I caught the end of it. They also said something else about the PT Cruiser being the only success of DC. But still today, tomorrow, next year...that's a lot of people without a job

My dad's friend says that is not true.

He says a year or so ago, they asked the employess if they should hire 2 more shifts, or if the current guys would work overtime. And thuis they would hire less people.

So with the booming economy the production went up and so did the hours, now as it slowed down, production needs to go down (the huge inventories at dealerships prove this).

Basically he said that they are not firing that many, just cutting back on the additional 2 shifts they created a while ago.

I hope that made sense, I also hope its true, because I'd hate to see that many fine people out of work.

As long as our good friend Bob isn't one of them. I found an artice about it in Fortune magazine saying that they announced the layoffs this past January and some other stuff about Daimler bring in someone as the new CEO of Chrysler so that things go their way and not Chryslers. Guess we'll see.

Being old doesn't mean that you don't have to make a living. Looking at it from my generation of 20-25 yr old people trying to enter todays workforce, I think that the DC situation is just one example of how hard it is for us to find jobs.

I read a news article this afternoon on how the 140,000 German employees at DC were given bonus checks of $1,470. Nice touch after what they did to the American workers.
