Subject: Central Timing Module???s

My dealer told me yesterday that I needed to replace the Central Timing Module in my 2001 4.7L Dakota to stop the hard shifting (auto trans). They also said the 3month/3000mile warranty I have with it will not cover it. I bought it used and the warranty doesn't cover the timing module. They also will not cover the fuel pump, which is making a really loud whine, until it actually quits working. The tech told them (Chrysler warranty people) it was going bad and very loud, but they won't fix it either until it goes completely out, and leaves me stranded somewhere. Even the service manager said that was pretty sorry.
Oh yeah, get this, they are replacing the front shocks under the same warranty because they are worn out, but the control module and fuel pump aren't covered. Go figure.
Anyway, anyone know anything about this part, where I can get it besides the dealer, and what it takes to install myself, if I evan can. Dealer says it won't hurt to drive it, it will just shift hard. Anyway help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Here is a how-to on replacing the fuel sending unit. It's basically the same to replace the fuel pump as the sending unit is attached to the fuel pump.

I (and many) found it easier to take the bed off than drop the tank.

Sorry, can not be of much help on the CTM.
