2000 4.7l w/105,000.

I check my fluid levels every time I gas up. Today there was a nice white streak towards the top part of the fill line on my oil dipstick. Unscrewed the oil fill cap and there was a nice green milkshake happening in there. Started the engine and stuck my finger against the PCV valve hole and it is sucking pretty good.

So, my truck has never overheated, or even come close)--I watch it like crazy. I'm never low on coolant either. I'm not low now. The truck is running great and staying at normal temperature.

Somebody please tell me it's not a head gasket (or something worse). When the truck was brand new, like a lot of new 2000 owners I had the oil condensation problem (exhibited all the same symptoms--even the water on the dipstick) and the fix was a new PCV valve. Is there any chance I am having that problem again? What else can I check?

Okay, after reading some more I am starting to think that this is the normal condensation/emulsion problem manifesting itself again. Here in Houston we have just gotten down into the 30's and 40's this past week, and this truck has pretty much seen 70 degree weather for the past three years, which explains me not having seen the emulsion in the oil filler for quite some time.

My question is whether or not it is normal for this stuff to drip down into the pan and get on the dipstick? I think the answer is yes, especially since there was A LOT of condensation in the filler tube, but just want to make sure.

I heard another fix was an insert at the fill to hide this - can be caused because the filler tube is non metalic, it stays cooler; allowing condensation to cause the ugly mess. Never seen it in mine, running synthetic oil; and I live where it can be humid. Might be worth a try ?
