If you can find a truck trend mag read it. sept/ oct it has war of the 1 tons, ford vs. Dodge 4x4 (not us) but has article on baby diesel. detroit diesel merged w/dc. they came up w/a v-6 detroit "delta" 600lb 4.0L. 24valve diesel210hp @4000 w 340tq @ 2000 they put it in a durango and got the same perormance as the 5.2L V-8 but w/ better fuel mpg. Plans for the 1/2 ton, dak, and durango.
For the big boys dodge they didn't want to hurt Meredes fellings so they came up w/ this. I-6 6.4L out of the medume duty freightliner/Sterling rated at 190hp @2300 w/520tq at 1200!! at the least. They rated up to 300hp and 860tq. Or an optional 5.4L V-8 detroit. All the new diesels come standard w/intercooler and common rail injecton. They also plan to work w/ allison like the for and dodge in 03. What could Jet, Speed tweaks ect. do with this? As a truck driver I have started to fall for the detriot it is as reliable and powerful as the Caterpilar I would like like a 4.0L diesel dak just to have one.
