I had a major leak in my intake manifold gasket i found out. It
wasweird though.. last time i had one of those problems was in a
71 chevy small block, and you could tell there was a leak gonig on,
but not on my 99 dakota. But anyways, I got it replaced, and my
truck hauls balls now... jeeze it must have been bad, cuzi must
have lost tons of power when my gasket was afu. Anyways, the
point to this is my surprise of replacing the gasket...

CJ,
What were some of the symptoms that you noticed to determine that you needed to replace your intake manifold gasket? I have a 99 with the 5.2 and it seems to have a loss of power. Maybe I need to replace mine.

Copy that above comment. I too feel that my truck is not as powerful as it should be.
I have replaced all the sensors, plugs, cap, rotor, used SeaFoam, and some other maintenance stuff. My Plenum gasket is still original to the truck with no signs of a leak. I have a 99 with 5.2 at 117,000 miles. I was towing a pair of older small jetskis and my truck could hardly handle the load. I need to fix this, just don't know where to start. Perhaps my motor is just tired.

Yeah guys I mean... anything could cause a dogged down engine,
tons and tons of reasoning, and I personally do not think a intake
manifold gasket is an answer, it was just a problem I had...

You can hear it, liek your valves ticking, annd a lot more engine
noise, and hardcore pinging at giher rpms (like a mesh of marbles)
Thats what kinda can happen if you have a major leak in that
gasket... I have a feeling its not the problem with your guys' trucks?

CJ,
My truck pings loud at higher rpms also, and I have that ticking noise to. So I am pretty sure that it is my gasket. the engine makes alot more noise then when I bought it. Thanks for the info!!
