long story short, i need to replace the motor in my 2000 QC 4x4. It originally had the 4.7L V8, and i'm leaning towards just replacing that, unless anyone has any other suggestions? Thanks, any opinion at all is much appreciated

Stick with the engine that was in the truck.
That way nothing else has to be changed like,
computer, exhaust and all the other stuff that's
related to stuffing something into a engine bay
that was not meant to be.

Unless you're into hot rodding and such do the
above and drive it...

Good luck on your replacement...

What happened to your motor?

By any chance, do you pay to have your oil changed?

Yes, stick w/the 4.7. Unless you are really "mechanically inclined" or have lots o' $$ laying around, any other motor could be more trouble than it's worth. The 5.9 in my '00 QC AWD got 16MPG highway; the 4.7 should do closer to 20 - depending on the size of your right foot. With HO cams and intake the 4.7 has more power than the 5.9, too.

how do you like your 1.7 Harland roller rockers?

how much are they? are they worth the money?
are they just a bolt-on deal?

Thanks a lot to all. No, i do the oil changes myself, ? I was having a lot of trouble with overheating, at first i just replaced the cap, flushed and filled, but eventually it was in and out of a few different shops, and i had the rad replaced. The water pump went and now the heads are cracked and all that other fun stuff. I realize i could have that fixed, but considering its nearly as pricey as replacing the motor anyways, it would be smarter to spend the little bit extra and just get a brand new one.
