Aiight fellas, here is the scoop.

I bought an IAC Valve, replaced it.. and it still ran crappy... but
glad i did, because it looked perty dirty, and I cleaned My TB
while I was at it...

Anyways, so that convinced my dad that we needed to get it
taken in to get checked on, so when he visited me from college,
he drove the truck back home to where our trusty mechanics
are, who we go to all the time and the owner knew my dad
before his business... good place

Anyways, he noticed that the fan clutch was total afu, and
needed replacing.. So i was like " ok" and he showed it to me
and it didnt seem to be working right, so ok whatever.

Then today he calls me dad saying the intake manifold's gasket
is totally shot, and leaking major air, and my dad took pics of it
and showed them to me, and yeah, it looked bad..

Weird thing is, i never even heard like a valve tap or leaking type
sound from the engien at all... I thought if a gasket leaked,
esecially the one between the intake manifold did, that it would
cause that type of exhast leak valve tapping kinda sound? well it
didnt... Now the money and labor racked up and i am gonna be
broke... yay.... yeah and my tranny leaks too but i said forget
that, its a slow one, and i check the fluid every week and it isnt
noticable...

I just wanna drive this thing the least amount i can and sell the
thing once i can... this thing just keeps rackin em up.. I know
theres worse.. but its just one thing after another with this
truck.. prob shoulda bought a Gen II, it woulda lasted longer.

Dono if it will be another dodge though...

sors.. kinda mad about this.. Haha would you all be mad at me if
i said i'd prob get a toyota truck next? haha..

My friend has a 93 that his dad owned, it has 140k on it...
besides normal maint. like brakes etc.. nothnig has gone wrong
with it... i hate that.. then here i am with a newer truck at 90k
and its been 4k in repairs... forget this

Thanks mark for your help...very much appreciated.

Well it sounds like you got a bad apple. From how you described it, I woudl have sworn that the IAT valve was the problem. I wouldnt suggest doing the manifold in your spare time. Its a half day's job... or full day if you combine it with a case of rolling rock like I did 5 years ago. Half the engine has to come out. Do you notice ping or detonation at higher rpms? That would be a sign of a leaky manifold. More air gets sucked into the engine causing the mixture to be lean. This causes ping or knock or detonation or preignition or whatever you want to call it. Sounds like crackling at high rpms or marbles at low rpms.

Sorry to hear it didnt work out for you. I have a 93 with 140k like your friend. Thanks to the guys on this site, I never had to take it into the shop.
