I have been having some trouble with my radio. It will play at a normal level and then just start blasting. It is to the point where I don't want to listen to it because I jump every time I am listening to it. Any ideas on what is going on?

Dirty contacts in the volume control perhaps?

If you are comfortable doing so, take as much apart as you can and spray some contact cleaner on the switch if you can even get to it. Cleaners can sometimes etch plastics like the display so be careful where you spray...

I had the same problem you have, also my radio would turn itself on by its self(scared the crap out of everytime it happened). One day I noticed my reverse lights were not working so I put in a new fuse and blew. Traced the problem back to the reverse relay switch(I have a 5 speed). I relpaced it and the radio has worked fine since. I do not know what one has to do with the other unless the relay caused a surge in the electrical system that caused the problem with the radio, anyway maybe your problem is related to a electrical short in something else. Does everything electrical work ok on your truck? Hope this helps.

All of my other electrical systems seem to work fine. I think it may be linked to my subwoofer. I will keep looking thanks for the help.
