Message: What years rear ends will fit my 90 Dakota 2WD 10 bolt V6? I've had broken pinion teeth puncture the rear cover TWICE. This is my parts chaser.
Message: You probably have an 8 1/4" rear though there is a chance you could have a 7 1/4".
87-90 will be an exact replacement.
91-96 will also fit but has a different wheel bolt pattern, 6 on 4.5" however, the axle shafts are interchangeable with the earlier axle so you could use one of those and swap in your existing shafts.
