well i'm very angry right now.
I just returned from spending 11 wks in Denver Colorado. When I left Home, my 2000 Dak sport was in perfect shape. I gave my pemission to my family to drive it when neccesary and to have the oil changed at 74,000 miles.
As i pulled into my driveway i noticed the Dak was backed up to the side of the house instead of the front. It was late so i let it go till the morning.
The next day as i walked to the dak i noticed a slight smudge in the paint. as i got closer i saw it was a dent the size of a balled up fist. No time to bltch about it since i had plans. I turned it on and as i was leaving the driveway the Abs and brake light both come on!!
2nd the front drivers side brake sounded like a train stopping on the tracks...wtf?!!!
Later that night I found out that the oil was never changed. it now has 76,700 miles.
I also found out about the dent. My Bro in-law decided to take my bout out and as he was backing up the truck he turned it to hard and hit one of the small trees in the yard.
I did some research and know what i have to do about the abs/brake light. However, i am puzzled to the horrible sound coming from the brake. the pads are almost brand new...I heard it could be a warped rotor. My neighbor looked at it and even used a straight edge against it and claimed the rotor is fine..(?) oh yeah, it only makes the bad sound when i'm moving slowly like in parking lots and stopping on an incline like a small dip or hill. I do not want to put it in the shop to have the brakes worked on.
I got a quote for $225 to have the dent fixed..I think thats pretty good since it's not coming out of my pocket.
i'm not mad about the truck cause shlt happens. I'm mad about them not respecting me properety plus they should have been honest with me and not wait till i got home to let me know about my truck...duh!!! telephone would have worked just fine.

That sucks. So they put 3000 miles on it in 11 weeks, and they were supposed to only drive it when needed. Gotta love the fam.

The grating sound might be rust/debris caught between the rotor and pads. Did you look at the rotors and pads when you neighbor did? Look carefully at inboard and outboard sides of them, and look for rust/sh!t accumulation.

If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.

cuzindoug stole what I was going to say. Rust can accumulate particularly if the truck sat out. About people not taking care of you stuff, you do realize that right or wrong many people tend to not care about something when it isn't their own.

Still, it's pretty low when your family does that.

As for the dent, there is a "paintless dent removal" service that I used to recommend customers to back in PA. The shop was called Carisma, but I think it's a nation wide chain. I'm not sure though. You might want to google it- their prices were always good, and it's nice because they don't repaint the affected body part. As a detailer, I can tell you that painting doesn't always work out that good.

You Just learned what I did many many years ago > There are a rare few that would actually treat your investments as you would > There are lots that value things properly as long as it belongs to them > And then there are those that distry everything they touch > Yours and theres > Somebody that needs a truck bad enough to put 3000 miles on somebody elses rig in 11 weeks should be told they need to get a truck just like you did > One payment at a time > And far as your concerned that's the only way they will drive one again Wether or not there paying for the damage done to your truck, the damage done to your trust in yoir family has no price and will never again be the same

If that's how he treats your truck it tells you what he thinks of you.

Now the bigger question is what does he think of your sister and how does he treat her?

He's obviously not worried about her getting mad at him on your behalf or what kind of strain this mistrust will put on familial relationships.
Lack of respect for the person, the family or the person's property. There's really no difference.

wow, thats pretty shi tty

the way a man treats his truck is the way a man treats himself.

like someone else said, shows what he thinks of you. what do you think is making the error codes?

My truck is going into the body shop today. I checked into that paintless dent removal. there is a crease on the bottom of the fender. The Abs/brake light is from a failed differential speed sensor.I think. and I decided to change out the rotors since they have almost 78,000 miles on them. I'm assuming they are the original ones that came from the factory because, they have the metal clip on the stud.
This is how much that a-hole respects me:
I asked to borrow his extra car. together he and my sister have a '03 accord 00' civic Si and a '94 taurus. I told them I would like to use the Si(his baby). They told me no. told me i could use the Ford. The Si is his and he doesnt like other people driving it. figures, what an a-hole.
and about the almost 3,000 miles added to my truck. They used it to help a friend move into his new house.. (just guessing)
This took about 10 trips @ 45 miles both ways.
My other sister. still lives @ home. she and her b/f used it for a camping trip!!! which means he drove it and i dont even know the dude.
Then my mom occasionaly drove it to take the trash and get supplies to remodel her kitchen. which is o.k.
I'm still kinda shell shocked that they did this to me. and also very hurt. i have never treated them wrong in anyway. and they just take advantage of me like that.. oh yeah they emptied my change holder in the console.

is it safe to say that you won't leave them your truck to use if you happen to go away again? now, to empty the change holder is really low.

an old wise man told me once:
"you can pick your friends, but you can't pick your family".

Time to use a healthy application of baseball bat on their cars (definately his precious SI). Or atleast slash a few tires. I love my family, but there's no way I'd let them get away with all that.

Well atleast you'll be saving a bundle this Christmas.

I wouldn't buy my sibs or their a-holes anything ever again and that would go for wedding presents and showers too.
If they say something , tell them your still paying for the damage and wear+tear on your truck.

Mom , of course, is not subject to these conditions.
