I don't know what your problem is.
i bought my 4X4 to go off road. I also tow. And I bought in a DAKOTA form because it handles the road like a car. Better than most cars actually.
And who says it can't beat down some typical sh*t box ricers every now and then? 4X4 or not. It holds it's won just fine.
I bought myself a old car to build a drag racer out of. But that wont stop me from doing things to my Dakota either. So there :p

i dont think the dakota handles better than most cars. my mercury grand marquis with the 4.6L LS handled alot better and it was stock. it was a boaty car yes, but it would handle turns and crap 10 times better than my dak. no nothing is wrong with my truck either.

no ofense, but if you ever look at todays cars, you got a solid rear axle, engine in the front, and ifs.
in RWD or FWD cars
hmm, thats a modren truck setup,
the only disadvantage to a truck would be corners and wieght, but that can be fixed many ways, such as fiberglass panels/lowering the suspinsion slieghtly.
back in 97-98, my dad had a 96 1-ton gmc dually 4x4(up in ak), 454, chip, dual exhaust, and other mods(only ran on high octane), heavy as h***, but was able to smoke most of the v8 camaros and Mustangs at the time and it was still able to tow(towed a 31-foot travel trailer from CA to MD)
which just comes to prove truck is capable of racing.

either way, ive been in many cars, and i do not think the dak is faster, or turns better. if someone wanted to really race. 1st i would want 2wd, v8, and 5 speed. then lighten that fat bitch up! these trucks are tooo heavy for the power. then you have something going.

I think it is pretty common in the past, Dakota buyers wanted something that could perform, be fun to drive, but still meet their truck needs. Besides, lately Dodge has been marketing trucks as performance vehicles. If you remember when the Hemi was first introduced in the Rams they showed it lining up against the Duster.
So for those of you who think its ridiculous to expect a truck to be part hot rod, your loyalties are misplaced.
