I have a couple devices I'm looking to hardwire into my 05 Daktoa. A GPS unit for my PDA, and a power supply for my PDA. I really don't know much about this stuff, but I would like to give it a shot. I noticed the 05 doesn't have a fuse box in the cab, everything is instead in the p. distribution center under the hood. Can anyone give me any advice as to where to start?

I'd run a FUSED main power wire from the battery or from the distribution connector (if it has one). The ground would be fairly safe just to go to a good place on the chassis.

In mine I have a 80 amp fused wire going from the front battery to my deep cycle battery in my truck box. Then that is tied in under my rear seats with all my gear, amps, inverter, computer power, etc. Ideally, I should have a battery isolator from my alternator to my two batteries, but I don't.

Now for SMALL things like you mentioned, you COULD just plug into the continuous power cig lighter outlet inside your middle console. I'd think the '05 would still have this? Mine does.

You can pick up a fuse block at Pepboys. I checked autozone and advance and neither had any of the large fuses (50Amp+). I would assume the car audio places would have these as well, did not check NAPA.

I installed an amp and 2 subs in my wife's car. I picked up a single fuse block (bolt/screw to side of engine bay) and a fuse from pepboys for around $10-$11.

If you have power seats use the thick red wire in the harness under the left side kick panel.
