There are many good search engines available on the WWW. Failing that, a call to a dealership parts department is in order.
Finding things out for yourself is a good way to become accustomed to being an adult so that, if the day ever comes, you will be prepared.

dude, im 15. I just figured since it is 8:00 at night here, that i could ask one of u so called adults, a question. I figured this was a place to ask questions, guess i was wrong. U guys dont usually answer my questions right anyways( i find out later that u were wrong, when i call the junk yards). Also dont flatter ur self when i say u, i mean u as a collective group of people on this site.
thought i would give the guys on the DAKOTA board the benefit of the doubt.

Search engine: lay off the kid man that is why this site was created in the first place, so we can help people with there truck problems, don't discourage him and tell him to do a search on the net, he probably did a search to get here in the first place. anyway RRRRR you would use atf+4 about 2 quarts should do ya, but remember to replace the gasket as well

Uhh, I think the old manual tranny uses 30w motor oil.
My new NV 3500 calls for syncromesh, that you could get at advance auto.

Think the '97 5 speed was the NV3500 on the V-8 and V-6 but don't hold me to that one.
If not it's the AX-15
