Subject: Impressions/Opinions on MBRP Exhaust

I had a MBRP split duals cat back system installed this afternoon and after a brief test drive, it seems that I lost a lot of my low-end torque. Even with the 4.10 gears, the throttle response was noticeably diminished. When I stabbed the go pedal, it did not even push me back in the seat anymore. I cannot even get my tires to squeal now. While this maybe the only negative comment I have so far (and it is a BIG NEGATIVE), some of the positives were:

A: It has an incredible sound
B: There is hardly any interior noise
C: No loss/Maybe a slight gain in the upper-end

Previously, I had both Magnaflow #14256 and #14616 mufflers running with the stock pipes. The Magnaflows did improve upon the stock exhaust system as well as in the overall performance of the truck. With the Mags and with the rest of my mods, I consistently ran high 14 second runs in the 1/4 mile at MIR this summer.

If the HO cams do not recoup some of the loss of low-end torque I have by installing the MBRP's, I'm scrapping the MBRP duals and going back to the Magnaflows. Also, I hope Superchips would hurry up with the tuner for the 04+ 4.7. Superchips already have the Flashpaq Tuner available for the 04+ Hemi Ram.

My current performance mods on my 2004 Patriot Blue 4.7 Auto V8 CC 2wd Sport are: True Flow Air Intake System, Fastman 68mm TB, 4.10 Superior Gears and now the MBRP Split Duals. I have a set of HO Cams that needs to get installed.

Some of my exterior mods are: a SS Chrome Grille for the Main Shell and Bumper, Diamond Clear Headlights/Corners, R/T wheels, GSM FX Side Skirts, Powder coated Billet Gas Door, Advance Folding Cover, Tinted tails.

hmmmm, interesting post. I've had my MBRP cat back for 2 years, no complaints. I was, and still am, surrounded by fart cans and dime a dozen flowmasters, and wanted something different.
