Subject: Canned spray on bed liner?
IP: Logged

Message:
I'm looking to buy some of that canned spray on bedliner. I've got some small rust spots on the rail of my bed, that I'd like to sand down and use this stuff on. Is it worth it? I know it's obviously thinner than the stuff the pro's spray on, but also much cheaper. Suggestions?

if i were you, i would go for line-x. they spray it about 3/16 thick. i have a '00 quad cab and they did it for $390. it was pricey but it was worth it. it is warrantied for the life of the vehicle and actually raises the value of the truck. (plus it looks bad a$$)

I was quoted $515.00 as a base price for having mine sprayed in as an under the rail. Something like $35 more to have it sprayed over the rail and even more for an additional 14" x 40" spot on my toolbox that is dinged and scraped up from stuff sliding around in my bed.

The owners Ford bed was sprayed very nicely, he had his front grill and bumbper also done, looked very nice.

Saw a lawn service truck with his outter tailgate done yesterday.

I chose to skip it for now due to the price and due to me being quoted almost $150 less by Rhino.

Depends on what you use the truck for. If you do heavy duty hauling, rocks and such, that just won't hold up. But if it's your daily commuter, camping gear, suitcases, etc, it should be fine. I used it in the trunk of my Cobra kit with good results.

Is Rhino Liner better? Of course it is, no question about it. But it's also a lot more expensive, and may be more than you need.

As for the rust spots, I would sand them down, spray with Extend and then coat.

I recently went out and bought the spray on bedliner for my truck. Like someone said before me, it's really only for the light hauler. I took out my plastic drop in bedliner and layed down all the spray on stuff. It's a good peace of mind to know that you sealed your truck off from the hauntings of rust.
