Message:
How can you tell if the cat is plugged, I am not getting no sheck engine light? But am experiencing loss of power sometimes. When this happens I press the gas and nothing happens I just sit there. ANy ideas??

Thanks!

I had a new one installed that was actually bad. When I would go to accelerate, sounded like a monster vacuum leak un. Also the tach would increase but speed would not. I could not get above 35-40 mph.

Have you checked your pcv?

Exhaust pipe to cat might also turn cherry red if
really plugged. Also while at idle, put your hand
over the tail pile. You should feel a lot of
pressure if not plugged. I would think your O2
system would pick that problem up and send a
fault.

Please let us know what you find out and good
luck Joesmoke.

Forgot to add, most places will test cat for you for free.. This involves them testing temp from before and after cat using laser temp guage. It should be around 100 degree difference.

Good tip, dan!

I strongly agree, temp is the easiest way to check your cat (before and after the cat)
should be a minimum of 100 deg. difference.
