A dealership in my area has the hard to find dakota quad cab diesels. I cant find any info on the net about what diesel engines that they use and what are the spec like hp, tq, gas mileage, etc. Does anyone know anything of the dakota diesels?

I have heard nor seen nothing about a Dakota diesel > And agin I have not seen one but suposidly there putting a rail 4 banger diesel in the jeep wagons > When I seen this I was totally convinved the dakota would be getting that engine in a year or so > I myself believe that would be the cats meow > Great milage and reasonable torque although it wouldn't be a stop light racer and I could care less > I take care of my rigs and racing them is the hardest thing you can do to any auto drive train

A diesel is not available in the Dakota in the US. The US version is only available with the 3.7 and two versions of the 4.7. They used to sell the Gen III trucks in a few South American countries with an optional 4 cyl diesel but I haven’t heard of them recently. I don’t know if they still make them and I was unable to locate a current diesel Dakota option by doing a quick search of the south American Dodge sites. All the sites only listed the 3.7 and 4.7 engine options.

When read the info for the 4.7 HO it is recomended to run 93 octane. Ouch on the wallet

You can run 87 octane. The knock sensors will retard the timing so it'll perform like the non-HO engine. When you want that extra power just fill it with 91/93 octane and you get your power increase.

Yeah, the Jeep Liberty has a diesel. It would def. be nice if they would put it in the Dakota. I don't see why they couldn't. And if they don't, I would think that someone will come out with an install kit for the people that really want them.
