To stop all the pissing and moaning about the 05 Dak. It's here to stay and it's a Dakota.

Imagine if all the girly men out there had cried like little girls and hurled insults about the changes in 97. This site exists to help out fellow Dakota owners. Stop crying about the new Dakota and keep your insults to yourselves.

01 SLT CC 2WD. I might have an 05 or more likely 06, If I buy another Dakota. I just don't like the way this palce has turned into a Honda board since the 05 came out. Some people don't like change, I guess.

I don't take things personally. Insults are a reflection of the individual making them. They betray a poor upbringing and immaturity.

I'm not telling anybody to keep their opinions to themselves. I'm saying it's time to get over the 05 Dakota because DC isn't about to go back to the 8 year old 97 style and lets help out the owners of new Dakotas.

What's wrong with that? Nothing confusing about that, just common courtesy. Then again anybody who calls themselves a ShipDit probably wasn't brought up very well anyway so what's the point in even asking?

I own an '02 QC 4x4 and when it wears out guess what...I'm going to get a new Dak! *GASP!*

Is the '05 exactly as I'd have styled it?...nope.
But I still like the size of the new Dak and the engine (4.7). I'll buy another when the time comes.

To be honest, I hated the '97 when it came out at first too. I had a '90 Dak at that time and the '97 looked bizarre to me. But in time it grew on me and now I love the look, that's why I bought an '02. Eventually the '05 will be common place and we'll all get over it.

When we look back on this in 5 years it'll all seem so silly...

DodgeDriver,

It comes down to this. Many people like the size of the Dakota and I like the fact that it's a Dodge. I've driven Dodge vehicles all my life. Alot of the people who are on this board are posseurs/wannabes/ricers who just bought their truck and then they come on here and flame the new styles because they know everything, right. Everbody know's the type. Like a yappy poodle. I bet many don't own Dakota's at all. They're probably CanYawn owners who are jealous because their trucks are pieces of GM crap. Bottom line is, true Dodge truck guys will embrace the and help the owners of new Dakota's and the posseur/wannabe/ricer guys will move on to the next trend because that what phoey people do. The move from trend to trend and say what ever needs to be said so they can fit in.

So don't worry about what people here say. If you want to help the new guys go to a real Dodge truck board. Don't waste your time here.

Translation: "It doesn't matter whether Dodge builds the best product or not. If I buy a Dodge and it is a quality vehicle or happens to be the best for my needs, Bonus! Fact is, they could paint a turd Atlantic Blue and I'd buy it because it says Dodge. They can feed me any piece of feces they want, which is why I talk so much crap because I'm just regurgitating.

Then, I'm going to make fun of people who examine Dodge's competition, find that there may actually be a better product, and share their findings and opinions. Hopefully I can hurt thier feelings by calling them poseurs for not having the same blind loyalty as me!"

You're right, I don't have a Dakota....anymore. I loved the looks of the '97 from first sight. I thoroughly enjoyed my truck, but I outgrew it. Did all my homework and picked my next truck.

Blind loyalty doesn't encourage manufacturers to build better products. Losing sales to the competition forces manufacturers to improve.

Well, as you pointed out, I am copying you. I didn't realize we were using the trailer park debate method. That's where a subject is brought up, and you fling insults like a monkey flinging feces.
I believe this is actually a Dodge Dakota forum and postings should have something to do with Dakota.
Stop ditching class and maybe, eventually, you might be able to show that you're slightly more intelligent than a monkey.
All, I'm saying is that people who actually do their homework and make and educated choice based on their needs(even if they arrive at the conclusion that this is Dakota, it does have its good points), influence what is produced.
Loyalty is great, but blind loyalty just shows companies that they can do whatever they want and still sell their product.

What is the comma after "All" for? And it should be "make AN educated choice".

I agree to move on. I am still not sure if I like the style. I know I didn't like the change in 97 and I don't like the look on durango's but not sure on the Dakota. Keep in mind I have 2 generations as I had a 87, 91 and now a 96. I also realize many say that this is only 1 generation but to me they are different otherwise body parts would be interchangable and I know the grill isn't and likely the hood/fenders.

Now the reason I am back to a Dakota (96 just bought this month) is because of its size. I didn't want the full size and didn't want the small ranger/s-10 (had a S-10 too). I would have loved to look at the new Tacoma's and Frontiers or 05 Dakota's for that matter, but for me to spend that much money on a truck is not going to happen. I got a truck I know will last for some time and I can beat on and not worry cause I scratched it. The truck has some dents from the previous owner but I don't care. It is almost 10 years old and when I get mud and blood from hunting or scratches on it I won't care I will use it for its purpose unlike alot of the trucks on the roads today. I won't even get into the number of 4x4's which are never used. I have had a number and am guilty too but I would have bought a 2x4 had they been around. I did look for 2x4 Tundra's but they were to much for me too.

I also like the more squared off look. I used to have a Jeep Cherokee (NOT GRAND). I still think that is a nicer look than the Liberty which replaced it but that is me which explains why I think the 96 and earlier Dakota is the nices followed maybe by the 05's but still unsure what I think of them. I like my Mits Endeavor and the new Dakota's do have alot of the same lines so it is growing on me fast.

ND Tracer, that is one of the reasons I decided against an '05 Dakota was because of the lower ground clearance. Since my trucks see a lot of trails (included my pre-05 Dakota), I wanted something a with a better ground clearance and better approach/departure angles.

So, while not for me, the new Dak would be great for someone who wants a daily driver that can tow heavier loads than the other small-mid size trucks. I'm not fond of the looks, but I felt the same way about the new Rams; they grew on me.

I didn't realize they lowered the ground clearance. I guess DC is just trying to make everything a car. I heard they are doing the same thing to the Jeep's (Wrangler type). There they are adding wheel base length, less ground clearance and I don't recall what all. Basically the unit will be on the old Cherokee (XJ) platform only slightly wider. Its wheelbase is between the 2 door and 4 door Cherokee's (XJ).
