Subject: A/C fan only oh high....

I'm pretty sure it's a resister in the circuit, that only allows the fan/a-c to operate on the high setting when it goes out.

Happened to you? DIY?

I have a CD repair manual, just wondering tips and tricks, of this replacement, like the best approach to the dash, etc?

TIA

Fan Resistor Part Number 4885635AC cost is about ten bucks at the dealer. Located on passenger side under dash in A/C housing directly in line with the glove box latch. Resistor is mounted vertically in housing and plug has five wires. It is easier to remove the plug if you take the resistor out of the housing first. Two screws.

Well, Dick,

How exactly do I get to it? Do I have to take down the entire a/c housing, or can I get to it thru the glove box, removing it first?

I had the same thing on my '02 The resistor is accessible from underneath the dash without removing any other parts. Just a little bit of a contortionist act to work upside down.

Sorry, my post was a little confusing. As Cory said, just stick your head under the dash and look up. The wires/resistor will be on the bottom of the housing.

thanks again,

This happened once a long time ago when I had a Mazda truck. So I knew it was this reister pack.

Replaced last night, 5-10min job, had to move the vent for the heater over, and got to the bolts easier.

All is well again.
