Subject: Nuetral Start problems cause this?
IP: Logged

Message:
My 94 4x4 is turning over for almost 5-10 seconds before it catchesd, after it runs fine.. I also usually have to drop it to nuetral to start it now, could both problems be caused by the nuetral start switch? does the switch help send a signal for the fuel pump or any type of regulator?

It seems that the hard starting has kicked in as it got warmer this spring and summer, and when i was checking things out, I believe the previous owner put in a single line fuel pump, and just left the return line disconnected. The disconnected line comes from the charcoal canister.

Thoughts anyone? Help!

Thanks

sounds like the fuel is bleeding off somewhere when the truck iss off. so when you go to start it, the pump hasto build up the pressure before it has enough to run. as for having to start it in neutral, i would say yes. the switch is no good. next time you start it up, i want you to turn the key like this: on/off/on/off/on and leave it on the on/run position. the check engine lite should blink and series of blinks. tell me what they are.

Only got the 55 code, nothing else... I believe the fuel pump is fairly new, an it seemed to happen all at once, so i don't suspect the injectors, as far as I know the pressure regulator is in the pump, or part of the pump unit, I am going to try and test the pressure and see if there is any pressure after the truck sits for a bit, other than that, it seems to be turning over pretty good, any other options it may be?

55 just means end of codes. im pretty damn sure that your fuel pressure is bleeding off somewhere. as for the neutral start.... probably the switch.
