Subject: Why does this happen: vac cap blows off
IP: Logged

Message:
I have noticed my 97 Dak 3.9L 2wd running rough a couple of times. Both times I checked and the vacuum cap on the manifold vacuum fitting on the passenger side had fallen on the top of the engine, allowing air to be sucked in. I put it back on, and it happened again.

I decided to put a new cap on and to hope the problem was gone. However I thought I should ask to see if there is any other explanation that makes sense [and that I should be worried about] other than that the cap was too loose and vibrated off. The driver side one is fine.

Thanks for any insight you can give me.

It was probably just dry rotted and loose, theres no other way for it to come off unless your engine is supercharged or turbocharged!
