I'm thinking about getting an electric trailer brake controller for my Dakota. Anyone have good/bad luck with any particular units? I'm assuming that installation should just be a matter of finding a good mounting place and hooking up the pigtail that came with the factory trailer tow package?

Prodigy.

Set up was very easy. You can get a pigtail adaptor so it really is a simple plug in. But I used the plug that came with the tow kit frm Dodge and made my own.

In my '01, the plug in point is on the left side of the dash, up on top. It's almost impossible to plug in unless you unplug the main harness first. I know that doesn't make sense; but it will when you look under there.

I 2nd the Prodigy Tekonsha, very good unit that's going to run you about $100 online.

You can get cheaper, but I wouldn't want to be second guessing my purchase as the trailer is pushing me through an intersection or not stopping the trailer on a panic stop...

I've done fine with a cheaper Tekonsha, brand seems reliable.
