Subject: A/C causing wet interior
IP: Logged

Message:
After driving around with the A/C on, I discovered the passenger side of the truck to be completely soaking wet.

The moisture is coming from the dashboard, so I'm confident that the problem is the condensator.

Any advise as to how to solve the problem?

I apologize, this is a redundant post. The topic clearly has been addressed here numerous times.

No problem Calabrio, I'm having the same problem. It seems to be a design issue. My 02 4.7 Sport has a heat shield covering the drain tube and I believe its either partially clogged, crimped or whatever. They say the fix is to put a 90 deg fitting on the end of the tube with a tube extension and change the shield to fit over it. Only problem with mine is its a bear to get to, my first cat on that side is really close to it and I need to remove the wheel well skirt to reach it.

This is caused by the draining line being clogged that leads outside of the firewall. If you pull up the carpet, you will be able to ring it out.

Just fixed mine yesterday. Pulled off the skirt, layed under the truck used a 11mm combo wrench to remove the heat shield. I put a 1/2 inch pvc street elbow with a small hose clamp. I did not at a piece of tubing though. I reattached the heat shield, bending it around the pvc 90 to fit. reattached the skirt (got the plastic gromit/studs at autozone) and away I go. Took about 30 min. If it still leaks, I'm gonna put some 1/2 inch soft copper tubing with a nice bend to extend it down behind the heat shield.

02 4.7 Dak Sport.

PS: make sure its been turned off for awhile, so the cat is cool. Close quarters.
