Subject: Another A/C drain problem

I know this subject has been beat to death, BUT, I bought my 02 Dak last Dec and now that its hazy, hot and humid in PA, my a/c drain is leaking. I've read all the previous posts and have seen were a 90 deg fitting has been installed with a tube extension. Has this been determined to be the best and final solution?

I got about 1 gal of water from under the pass. side carpet. Me and the wify took a ride to the Jersey shore on Sat. and when we got there, she noticed her pocket book was soaked. Yesterday, I cleaned it up, ran the a/c and watched the condesation drip behind the fire wall under the evaporator and also outside the truck from under the heat shield. I'm guessing the tube is behind that heat shield. Yes????

Also, was there a recall on this? I run my vin number through the Dodge web page and it says all recalls on my vehicle have been done.

Thank you all!!!!

There's a sort of drip tray under the evaporator inside the dash, and a rubber hose fits onto the metal outlet of that to carry the water out the firewall. Often the hose clogs at the lower tip, but it sounds like in your case, it's clogging at the connection between the outlet of the tray and the upstream end of the rubber hose on the firewall. Some water gets through, but not enough to drain the tray.

You can pull the hose off and gently probe into the firewall with a Q-tip, but anything more than that may puncture the evaporator.

I see the tray but its flush with the fire wall and to get to the "heat" shield looks like you have to remove the wheel well housing. I see no hose.

There should be a rubber hose about the size of a thumb, with a 90-degree bend downward. It's usually on the passenger side of the firewall underhood.

Thanks for the reply Bob, but no hose, just a heat shield behind the exhaust cat/pass. side. I watched the condesate drip out of it. It looks like it has some prebent folds in it for the cond. to run down. Almost like the rubber tube exits the cab and they put this metal shield to cover it. The condensate was driping in the cab too by the evap.

Its an 02 Dak sport 4.7.
