I want to add a set of nerf bars to my 05 Dak for a combination of reasons - looks, functionality (step), and rocker protection off road.

I've found few mfg's that have nerfs for 05 Dak QC's available, and even less that offer black ones, most are chrome. About the best I can find is the Westin Platinum series (uses 304 stainless instead of steel).

Any other decent options that I missed? Anyone have some feedback on the Westin nerf bars? They're only 18 gauge, which seems pretty light to me.. I'm 1/2 debating making my own, but to get access to a pipe bender for a 3" diameter stainless would be a hassle. I suppose I could make some straight ones, without the bends...

I imagine stainless might be the way to go, if your going to do that, they'll be ugly without curves. I had some nerf bars on other vehicles years ago; they tend to get sand blasted by grit kicked up by the front wheels and don't stay good looking for long...
