buck, I have the same problem being I live in the great heat of the southwest. I use a WET piece of steel wool on your WET window, (use glass cleaner to wet the steel wool and window) lightly scrub window and wellah! all clear and shiny now.

Thanks for the advice, do you use the steel wool like you would use to clean pots and pans? or just plain type

What I've found works far and away the best is using believe it or not an SOS pad. It gets everything (and I mean everything) off and leaves you with brand new looking glass, with no scratches being caused by the SOS pad. I do it about every 6mo on my Dakota and it suprises me everytime just how dirty my windows WERE.

Have you tried white vinegar on inside & out of the window. It will remove water mineral spots without much effort.
Also, find a can of Bon-Ami or Bartenders Friend in your supermarket. Put some in a small can or jar and add distilled water and make a slurry mix, more water than powder. Use a soft cotton cloth and use like car polish on the glass, rub with circular motion not in straight lines. Rinse well and dry with a clean cotton cloth. Should take all films off and with sometimes remove very small scratches without leaving and marks.

Use car polish just like you would on your paint. Plus this makes the water bead up better than rain-x.

it depends on the "spots" are they evenly spaced and lighter then the glass around them and about the size of a silver dollar?
if that is the case, they are in the glass as a result of the tempering process. There is a company in Perrysburg Ohio, just outside of Toledo that builds glass bending and tempuring furnaces, and in the process hey developed 30 or so years ago, they use cool air jets to quench the glass, and that causes the glass to break into little bitty peices instead of large chunks that could sever body parts in an auto crash. The round spots, about the size of a silver dollor or so, are a result of the cool air jets having cooled the glass in that particular place just a bit faster then the glass in the surounding area. It does not harm the glass in anyway, nor does it indicate a defect in the glass. Usually you see it on rear or side window glass as the company does not build for the bending and tempuring of laminate glass. They sold these furnaces to domestic and foriegn auto glass and architechural glass companies world wide, so you can see the use in almost any make of car or truck.

Here's what I've found works the best: a clay bar, like Meguire's. Use the detail spray and rub the clay on the glass. Any and all spots gone and the glass will be unbelievably clean.
