When you say "shaving the antenna" are you saying
just smoothing it out but leaving it as long as
factory? If so, you'll notice no difference in the
recpetion of your radio.

Also, don't waste your money on any sore of
indoor antenna. Being the cab has a lot of metal,
90% of recpetion is lost except for strong local
stations.

Hey, y'all.
a full length CB whip antenna gets GOOD AM & FM radio reception.
Got one on my '70 Opel GT.

Haven't shaved my antenna yet. Either it is not old enough to grow hair, or I live in an area that is too cold for hair on the antenna.

I never thought of antenna's being an eye sore myself.

One thing for sure is, if you install it inside the cab under the radio, you will lose a LOT of signal.

Now THAT being said. I no longer HAVE any FM radio at the moment because I got rid of the head unit in favor of my computer based media system containing over 2000 of my mp3's on tap.

So, I HAVE an antenna doing NOTHING!

I have THOUGHT of removing it. When I'm in a auto car wash and I watch it being whipped around I wonder why I keep it.

Who knows. I'm NOT into modding vehicles by SHAVING things. However, I may shave my antenna.

I've also thought of locating a high gain external WiFi ant in it's place.
I had my WiFi ant mounted to mt truck box. One day I loaded one of my ATV's and BROKE it :(
Now I'm using the ant on the WiFi card. Like your radio, it reduces my signal big time being INSIDE the cab.
I have to back into my driveway and open the doors for it to barely have enough signal to get files form my home computer.
