Subject: question painting door handles
IP: Logged

Message:
I removed my door handles according to the instructions on the main page. One thing I noticed was that there was a small device attached to the back of both door lock cylinders. The device just clipped on and also had two wires going to it. I can only guess that this is related to the remote entry or the Sentry key. Does anyone know for sure what this little device does?

Thanks!

sure do

If you removed a pin that was held my a swivle clamp...thats how you lock/unlock and open your doors.

If you plan on painting them yourself, dont. Lol.

You're right, it is driving me nuts. But anyway, I may take a picture later because I know it isn't the rod to lock/unlock. It is very difficult to describe.

The truck is currently at the body shop where it is being painted.

Ok, so the body shop had to replace that part. It's part number/description is "56049289-AA SWITCH CE 8053003". I still don't know what it does. Does that mean anything to anyone? If not, I'll have to call the dealer Monday.

Thanks.
