hey, i have a 98 Dak and my front bumper is chipped/chipping and rusted. The other day my cousin decidedto put black spray paint over the chips and now it looks worse than b4. PLEASE can anyone tell me what i can do or how much a whole new bumper would be? Thanks.

I have the same problem with my 97. I haven't priced a front bumper, but I replaced my back one for $560 (Canadian). I was quoted $200 to repaint the front one, but for now I've been using Turtle Wax black wax (about 3 or 4 coats) and buffing it, it looks pretty good (until I decide whether to get it painted or do it myself). Someone on an earlier post suggested using a sanding drill attachment to get rid of the rust, then repaint. Good luck!

Had the same problem with my 97. The dealer replaced it after a year. A year later they replaced the replacement. Now its been a year and a half and no problems. I gues the third time is the charm.

I can help if you live in Minnesota if not here's what you do remove the middle bumper piece and sand the rust spots so that they feather out smooth then go and get some primer and spray the whole bumper extra coats where the rust was so that you don't get azzhole rings as they call here in the bodyshop when thats dry lighty sand w/400-500 grit sandpaper then use foam window cleaner to wash it get some sealer seal the whole thing and if its black get some rustolem gloss black and a spray gun and spray it w/4-5coats let dry and reinstall. But if you live in Minnesota I can do it out of my garage for less than the bodyshops charge and it will look mint as I have painted one for my dad and it looks great. If it has to be the color of the truck thats not a problem as I have access to free paint from friends in the bodyshop business. any ?'s E-mail me at alauseng@hotmail.com and I will be glad to help.
