Changed my rotors and pads over the weekend. Could not get one bleeder loose. Any suggestions for removing it without damaging the caliper?

If you really want to, you can unbolt the caliper and bleed it from the bolt where the brake line comes in. Make sure to tilt it so all the air would come to that point.

Question! Is it necessary to bleed the brake system out after changing pads and rotors? I thought you didn't have to, or am I missing something?

Use a real penetrating oil, not WD-40. My favorite is PB Blaster. Then do a couple of heat-cool cycles. Let the oil penetrate for a couple of days between cycles. Then use a hand impact wrench (not air or electric). If that fails, remove the caliper, drill out the bleeder, and use a thread repair designed for that - not Heli-Coil.

If all that fails, get a pair of rebuilt calipers.

no you are not missing anything DB you shouldn't have to bleed the brakes if the fluid is good, (meaning: no debris or discolored or spongey feeling when braking), i've changed lots of brake pads and shoes and have never bled the brakes when doing so.

Thanks for all the help. Thought of drilling or replacing caliper, but only as a last resort if there were better ideas.

I got a nice caliper with new caliper pins included from Napa for about $32 for my 94 5.2 4x4. the other places had similar prices but didn't come with the pins wich go about $5 or more a piece.
