I have a 89 dakota convertible 4x4 and It's in excellent condition as far as paint,interior top and the motor runs smooth the tranny has finally gave up but I have a replacement. My question is will it be worth alot someday if I keep it stock or should I go ahead and do some mods to it like raise it and gear it and make a real 4x4out of it

I was down at the local gear & bearing shop getting parts for my old jeep and a guy drove up with a Dakota on big tires and rancho shocks and it looked so good.... I'm really tempted...But they only made these for three years so it may be a collecters some day

If your worried about lossing value by modifying the vehicle just make changes that can go back to stock at a later date and keep the original parts. Pretty much every mod people do can be reversed at a later day unless it involves cutting or welding, so make the truck you want and change it back to stock if it becomes a collector. A convertible dodge dakota with a lift and big tires would look so sweet.

Have had the same questions about my Shelby, but you know what? I have to live with it. Might as well be what I want it to be. It might be worth something one day, or it might be wrecked, or I might be dead. Enjoy it the way you want it because the true worth is what you feel every day with it, not what someone else says it might be worth some day down the road.

Hey' Thanks for your thoughts on this. I think I will do some things to it. Like 87 4x4 dak said I can undo them, and it would look sweet. Right now you wouldn't even know it was a 4x4 by the looks.It sits like my 2w drive pretty much,And I did get another motor w/ the tranny so I could Build it any way I want. I finally figured out why 4x4 w/convertible when I drove out to Florida and got to drive on the beach.It'll look much better jacked up, and I,ll be not so hard on it as my Jeep
