I have a 2000 Dakota Quad 2wd and I get a vibration when stop from speeds above 40mph. The vibration starts about 1.5 seconds after I begin pressing my brakes and continues until I let off the brake some of come to a complete stop. The vibration is not felt in the steering wheel and the pedal seems to be nice and firm.

The vibration seems to be coming from the rear. There is no brake noise or stopping problems but this vibration is very annoying. I recently checked my rear drums and they were not out of round and the shoes were in good shape. I also adjusted them at same time but to no avail.

Could a brake line or something be touching suspension or what could be causing this?

I would say its your front rotors. but if you dont feel it in your steering wheel. then thats wierd. I would still ck your rotors.

If feel the vibration in the cab and the seat, and not in the pedal or steering wheel then its most likely related to the rear. Make sure that the rear wheels are torqued nice and evenly.

If the drums and shoes are in good shape I am not sure...maybe the wheel cylinder or shocks?

Hopefully someone else could provide more insight.

The rear drums could be out of round, but they would have to be pretty bad to make the entire truck vibrate. It's a possibility though, you can get that checked if the other suggestions don't work.
