Maybe you'll get to see it again on the 10 o'clock news, followed by a stream of cop cars?

The dakota's are a popular truck, they blend in easily. It could be that you'll see parts of your truck and not know it.

You may want to call the local pawn shops and music stores and let me know about the guitar and it being stolen. You may get lucky!

major suckage dude! Not much is worse than having your privacy violated.

Sorry to here about your loss. I joke around sometimes and tell my friends that I wish some one would steal my dakota money pit, but I don't think it would be too cool. As far as the Les Paul, I would commit murder.

This is a joke, right, after listing all the valuable contents, not to mention a rockin' truck itself?

Some of the more stolen cars include Plymouth Acclaims and Toyota Camrys. Attractive? Nope. Body parts.

Back when I drove a wrecker, I used to tow cars off the Univ. of Hartford campus all the time. Public Safety was real strict about the parking policies. As far as why people steal cars, the majority of the stolen recoveries I used to drag into the shop was because someone needed to get from point A to point B and didn’t want to wait for the bus. Only a few percent were taken for parts.

Note: I very frequently get email from people asking about the lift kit in my ’88. Typically, I will NOT respond to the emails (about 95%) that ask questions I’ve already covered on my web pages (ie. Where did you get the kit?, Who makes it?, How much did it cost?, What modifications did you have to make to get it to fit your truck?. How hard was it to install? What problems did you encounter? etc, etc...)

Yea, I know, but you can only answer the same questions so many times before it gets aggravating. I was getting something like 5-10 emails a day from people asking those very questions, all of which are covered on my website with part numbers, a couple of pages of photos, a .PDF copy of the Trailmaster instructions and a bunch of other details. Whoever said, “There’s no such thing as a stupid question” obviously never surfed the millions of Internet forums. It may not be a stupid question the first couple of hundred times it’s asked, but at some point it becomes one, especially when all of the threads that asked it before are still searchable. In any event, the disclaimer must be working since I only hardly any of those emails now.

I used to be a senior support engineer for Pfizer’s global research facility in Groton and I used to tell the desktop support techs that I don’t mind answering their questions and helping them with resolving any issues, but they better have done all their homework before calling my extension. When the answers were already easily available in a searchable database, they were just wasting everyone’s already limited time. It must have worked because my team had the best matrix numbers of any support group in the corporation.

I checked with the school. The first thing i did was call up campus sescurity. they knew nothing of the truck. In the police report, i gave them the serial# off the guitar. that thing was my stress reliever, now my truck is gone,i'm really stressed out. i feal like a parent who has lost two children. untill i hear anything of my truck i'm stuck driving my sisters old 89 Ford tempo. (0-60 in 5minutes). Why Me...Why My truck? Whats so special about a stock truck that makes it worth stealing? even if i ever get my baby back,my guitar, tools, and pride are all gone.

What's so special about it? It has 4 wheels.

My neighbors truck was stolen in front of his wifes work in broad day light, as he was driving up to it with a friend to pick it up. He got it back after the thief having it for a few days and thrashing it and a couple weeks in the body shop. Its still not the same as it used to be; a wheel is damaged, the tranny doesn't shift the same, the doors don't close like they used to... like the frame is bent.

I spent $800.00 on an alarm a week after I bought my dak but the two flasning, blue LED's that cost $20.00 are probably all that's needed as a deterrent.

Actually, they were probably more interested in the guitar. That would interest most school aged punks. The truck just happened to be a get away vehicle.

who in their right mind would leave a vintage les paul outside, well at least, in an UNHEATED truck in the middle of winter. that going from heated room to frozen truck interior does a lot of nasties to wood and the eletronics and rusts the strings dummy. Dude, you deserved to get ripped off just for the sacrilage you did to the Gibson.
