 Subject: Transfer case rattle

Ive got a 1998 4x4 v6 5spd, and when Im on the highway, the stick for my transfer case makes this horrible rattle at 65-70mph. It doesnt rattle untill 65, and when you get up to 75-80 it stops also. Doesnt matter what gear, 4th or 5th it still does it. It rattles in 3rd also, but I dont like being in 3rd gear at that speed...lol. Im positive its that, because when cruise is on, often i drive with my foot on that stick to make the rattle stop. I discoverd my trans mount was toast, so I replaced that and the rattle stopped a little (it used to do it from like 55-75). Im taking it in tomorrow for an alignment, dunno if that has anything to do with it, needs one regardless. If anybody has any ideas or suggestion...please let me know! Thanks alot!

might check to see if the stick is just rattling against the metal opening. Mine would do this at certain speeds so i just tucked the boot down between it and the opening.

LoL, I was kinda thinking that, but I was leary of trying to pull up the boot to take a look, Its all nice and leather-y...I didnt wanna tear it...LoL...thanks though :)
