 Subject: code P0270, output speed sensor

After doing some recent "tinkering" with my transmission, I was driving around and the check engine light came on. Took it to autozone and it read out as code P0270, output speed sensor malfunction. Oddly though, my speedometer works just fine and the trucks runs as well as it always has.
Anyone has any idea where the sensor is that is malfunctioning? And why would a code show up even though my speedometer still reads just fine? Any comments or suggestions would be great. Thanks.

Kaderdak type output speed sensor in the search box, theres some info there that may help you. by the way did the engine light stay on or is it off
