Does anyone know if this is due to a statue of limitations and why Chrysler waited so long to announce the recall?
I have a 99 sport 4x4 also and feel slighted....
Doesnt the 99 have the same ball joints as the recalled units?

I just had my 99 4x4 inspected and the ball joints were fine. Purchased in August 2004 w/ 45,000. Now at 49,000.
My 95 Ram was a different story - at 98,000 it's on it's third set.

It does not matter if ALL ball joints fail on these vehicles, what matters is the perceived safety risk as determined by the NHTSA. If these ball joints continue to fail in a manner that makes them noisy BEFORE they are dangerous, then there will likely be no further recall. When more wheels fall off WITHOUT warning (which is not likely), then we may see further action by the NHTSA. As for now, they are showing a consistent pattern of being noisy before they allow a wheel to fall off.

I called D-C to see if they'd reimburse me for replacing my ball joints. I said, '...just outside the year range for the recall, but my truck had the same problem so I thought I'd ask...' The phone rep said I could go ahead and try mailing the receipt to their customer service if I wanted, but not to get my hopes up.
