 Subject: What ball joints?

I got my re-call notice for the ball joints the
other day.
Anyone know what ball joints they are using? Is it
the same junkers that came on these trucks or
better ones?
I just had my upper left replaced by the dealer-
ship a month ago. Are they gonna replace that one
also?
Just wondered if anyone knows yet. I'm sure these
questions can be answered by the dealer, or can
they?

I'm pretty sure they're using the new style revised late03/04 parts. You can't have a recall and put back the same crap you take out.

Yes you can. Research recall #685 for example.

The ball joints being used for replacement are not the same as what was used as factory installed on the affected year/model Dur/Daks. They are, however, the same (I think) that has been used as replacement for the past couple years. Different manufacturer and better seal (as I am told).

So I'm assuming that we still have a non-greasable joint???
I just hope this recall takes care of the problem. My truck is scheduled to go in this Friday.

Hammerdak, the dealer replaced the upper left
under warranty.
Scott, still non greasable.. At least my
non-recall replacement was.

I had one go bad and I replaced it with a greasable TRW piece. I can imagine the fun I am going to have at the dealer instructing them not to screw with the new one that is already on it.

I think I got it at Advance. My local Napa was having a problem with the Moog joints being on back-order or something like that.

I had both on my 15k mile 2003 Durango BJ's recalled out last week. They were NON-GREASABLE even though the dealership service dept guy told me they would be when I first brought it in. They also recalled some evaporative leak something or other that ended up being dry rotted hoses....on a vehicle we have had just over a year with only 15k miles on it.
