What did you use for piping? filter? I am going to make a cold air intake myself, just not sure which way to go. I have seen some really rigged setups with a bunch of eyesore PVC.

I want to make this look good. Any ideas before I start. What size inlet does my filter need to have? I assumed my air hat inlet is 3"...haven't checked it out yet.

there's plenty of info and pics out there if you search. search this site and the internet. and yes you would use something that's 3" diameter.

If you have a 4.7L I personally think you are wasting your time but if you really want to try I do remember someone posting on here within the past 2 years that I think made the intake tube of tubular aluminum (or something besides PVC)he bought somewhere. Just do an exhaustive search on the homemade/homebrew intakes (may take a few hours) and maybe yo will find what I am talking about. Good luck

I detailed my aluminum alloy tubes-to stock airbox-intake info under the post "What is the best intake?". I've got 103K on my '01 4.7 RC now, and it has never run better. I use the stock snorkel inlet in the Winter, and a 4" or 6" "no-hub" Fernco inlet Spring/Summer/Fall. The last 6" inlet I altered had a 4"x2" slot facing the stock fender induction area. The most common concern is water/rain in the airbox, which is extremely extremely nil. I'll have to borrow my daughter's digital cam for some pics.

I went to Home Depot and got myself some 3" aluminum dryer duct and cut it to size. Works great. A nice big APC air filter fit right on the end with no problem. Am going to have the duct painted with some graphics or flames. Hardly cost me a thing.
