Well...I have searched this forum for days now and cannot find a thread discussing a 'sticky speedometer'. 01 Dak 4dr 4wd 5.9, 44000. Speedo is not correct,it is the 32"BFG's causing that error. But the speedometer actually sticks in any position that I maintain a speed for any time. I have to increase or decrease speed by as much as 10mph before the speedo moves. I'm sure its electronic but once it's stuck, you can tap the instrument cluster and it will move towards the correct speed with each tap! Plan to replace the rear axle speed sensor and tru speed the error margin...but don't think that will help the 'sticky'....

I don't think it's a electronic problem, mdw4508.
I had a 90 that did the very same thing. It ended
up to be worping plastic caused by heating and
cooling over the years. I ended up replacing
the entire cluster with one out of a bone yard.

would be a lot cheaper just to remove the plastic lense and move the bezel around an permantly glue it down in a postion where it don't rub on the needle shaft. but I am just a cheapo that would rather fix it then spend money needlessly.

I don't know what could cause it to "stick", but if you have bigger tires on there, it will mess with your speedo.

I went from stock 15's to 275/45/20's and my speedometer is off.

I was stopped by the police for speeding. A very cool cop, he told me that my rims may be causing my speedometer to be off.

so he told me to set my cruise to 50mph, and he clocked me in at 57mph.

my speedo is 7 mph off.

Ok, I just rambled on about nothing useful, sorry. :o\
