Subject: Belt/Bearing squeek ?
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a 03,360,R/T with 1300 miles that has, sometimes on start up and sometimes not, a squeeking noise that is coming from what I think is either the belt tensenior or perhaps the water pump. The reason I'm writing this request for information is that, although the guages are reading no distress and their are no fluids on the floor, when I turn the engine off on occasion I will get a high pitch preasure relief type singing. Anyway I'm still under warrenty and the last time I had the truck serviced and mentioned this odd behavior to the service writer the R/T , of course, behaved itself. Does anyone on this board had this malady and can tell me if the truck is going to have some serious damage?

easy way to tell if it's the belt just spray some water on it while making the noise, if it goes away it's the belt, if not then ...... it's something else

I had a similar problem, I traced the noise to the water pump. Seems that you need to lube the coolant. Go to the parts store and buy a bottle of coolant lube.

Thanks for the reply however the preasure relief noise I hear is when I turn the engine off after I get the squeeking sounds. Sounds like a water pump bearing noise or slipping belt.
