Subject: Drag radials BALD down the middle
IP: Logged

Message:
sup homies. I have NOT been racing my truck but I do have nitto extreme drags on the back end only cause they were there new when I bought it. I have apparently driven them overinflated and they are bald in the middle. Could i maybe get some more life out of them by slightly deflating the tire? PLEASE ADVISE!

Ah something I know about. Let me get the
disclaimer in, I know nothing about trucks, but
track tires I do know about.

You did have too much pressure in there that
caused the wear in the middle. Take a few
pounds out and see how they feel.

Typically track tires will have tread depth
markers that are sunk in in the middle. If the
wear is not that far you will be fine but have
even less grip in the wet.

YEAH, just checked pressure, the bald tire had 45 PSI and the other side which looks fine considering its age had about 25 which feels firm enough and is wearing evenly. Dunno how this could happen, I've been trusting my full service guys who claimed I had 35 psi all the way around. More likely, they never even checked it. Just like my windsheild wiper blades, they checked "good" even though I had the whole wiper arms off during service. WTVR!

if ya want it done right, do it YIRSELF! who u tryin 2 kid?

I did not understand that one side is more worn
than the other. In that case you are going to
have a difference in traction that may cause you
to turn towards one side or the other.

I suggest you replace them and not risk an
accident. Tires are very important.

If you got an open rear end you will wear the right side tire out quicker if you beat on it all the time.Don't slam it to the floor when you make a right turn. That only impresses sidewalk spectators.(and rears out the right rear tire)

no response necessary. punk. but anyway,

explain how 3 weeks after service when receipt says 35 psi on all tires one tire is 45? is that my fault? who needs to think...

also, i know a lot of people that work for sears, wal-mart etc. and most service techs DO NOT do everything they charge for. i.e. when you pay for them to check the battery, alternator, etc. they often only check the battery and tell you the rest is good.

some people i guess get a rise out of telling people off all over the message boards. WHAT A THRILL, i should get into that.

They meant all the tires had an average of 35psi. 45 on one side and 25 on the other!
