Well everyone, I just finished taking my truck for a spin after installing my new Flowmaster Force II. It grumbles. Its only slightly noticeable at idle, you hear it more when reving up. Personally, I would have liked it a little louder but I got what I wanted out of it. I definitely notice a difference in performance. It feels like its faster, although I know that anticipation will make us think its faster, but I'll say I got some gain in hp. It accelerates smoother throughout the powerband on my 5.2. There used to be this dead spot thats now gone. Installation took some time, but I am not experienced with this type of thing. So if your a dummy under the hood like me, I may have some tips to make things easier. I would recommend this system, especially since I saved almost $100 over the Gibson system. I don't know if there would be a noticable difference between the two but I'm happy with the performance gain.

I also felt the same after install of my FM SUV 50 Series SUV Performance Muffler...I was looking for some more sound (read a lot of posts about Gibson installs..."wheres the beef")...my setup has either broken in, or I've come to think: sh*t, what a great sound...none the less...1k miles after install...getting stronger today!

Thats actually why I decided on Flowmaster instead of Gibson. I had heard the FM was louder. I have also noticed a smell now. Is that normal for a brand new exhaust to produce an odor at first?

I went to the flowmaster Website, and they said their mufflers would improve power, mileage and so on, but the mufflers are louder than the original factory version. Is there a muffler that will improve performance and be as quiet as the original muffler?

Thanks,

Donald

Inside the cab isn't really that loud. I have heard that the Gibson is quieter. Also, I've heard differing opinions on a muffler called the Terminator. Some say it doesn't sound any different than a stock muffler.
