Subject: getting better gas milage!!

I did not want to further my previous post about putting transmission fluid in oil, but I did want to provide an update I think some may find useful.

I put a quart of transmission fluid and the rest oil in my 95 CC 4x4 3.9 auto 146k miles. I was getting 14-15mpg in city, worse on highway. On my first fill up, I got 18.2 mpg (combined highway and city). On my 2nd fillup (all highway), I got 21.2 mpg(70-75mph average, sometimes 80). The truck does not shake as much as it used to during idle. I'm still working on replacing the timing chain, it's got considerable slack. I'm expecting this to help out some as well.

I'm planning on running all oil for 500-1000 miles, then repeating the process. I think i'll order some of the auto-rx stuff to use as a permanent additive to my oil. I don't belive I need a new engine as one shop suggested (even though they could not tell me what the problem was).

thanks to those for their helpful posts.
