Subject: selling my dak :(
IP: Logged

Message:
I've decided to sell my 91 dak to my little bro and buy an avenger. I was wondering if anyone has any reason why i shouldn't buy one, and i've got it narrowed down to a 95 ES and a 98, and they are both loaded. Any insight would be great, and just for everyone's knowledge i plan on buying my dak back in a few years when i can afford to put the money into it that i want to. Wouldn't a 91 dak with a 360 dropped to the ground and a chopped roof look hot!!

Ask yourself this: Will the Avenger tow your trailer/house and still have room in the back for the plastic flower garden? Will your sister/wife be able to paint her toe nails on the dash while downing a nickle bag of Cheetohs? Keep the Dak...it's so very "you".

Don't do it... I had a 95 ES loaded it was my first car. But a little over a year and a half ago I got rid of it and bought and 02cc dak. I love my truck and wouldn't trade it for anything. The avenger was good but I had way too many problems with it. I had to put a new transmission in it twice and both power windows broke. They are nice cars and they look good, but there were just too many problems to count. You said you wanted to buy back your dak when you have the money to put into it, but trust me you will have to dump just as much into repairing the avenger. Mine had to be towed to the dealership for the trade in becaue the transmission went a third time when I was taking it to trade in.

I had a 96 avevger I bought new and loved it. No problems that I didn't cause myself to speak of. I had the 4cyl, with a stick and she boogied pretty good while getting over 30mpg on the highway.Would recomend these cars to anyone . The only reason I sold mine was we couldn't fit 2 carseats very well in the back.

The pre-2000 Avenger 4-cyl engines had plenty of head gasket issues unless they were properly repaired by the revised head gasket kits that were much more of a metal design than cork/paper. The V-6 was durable excluding water pump failures that could lead to slinging a timing belt and ruining the engine...no power, but durable. Over all, the engines were solid (other than the head gaskets) and the transmissions were average at best. I think more people experienced electrical problems more than anything else, but those proplems were not terribly difficult to repair.
The 1995 Avenger will be more likely to give you problems.

thanks for the help, i thought that the 95's would give the most problems because it was the first year, and that the first year models usually give the most problems.

Don't be scared to buy the 4-cyl Avengers if you don't mind getting your hands dirty. The head gasket job is not that difficult. I did one myself for my brother's ex-girlfriend and I'm not exactly a mechanic. Just make sure you buy the head gasket kit at the dealership and make sure you get some of the spray-on adhesive recommended for the repair. AND, if you have a buddy at a dealership, you might even get them to print out or photocopy the revised repair procedure.

buy a honda 2 door civic or accord 2 door. They are sporty and will last you forever without a problem. :)

Just my 2 cents

i had a 98 avenger es i bought in 2001 with 12,000 miles. that was truely a beautiful car! v6 gray leather, sunroof. the soundsystem was awsome!! thats one of the things i miss the most that i dont have in my dak. its a shame i had to trade it in, i got rearended causing 11,000 damage and exactly 1 year later to the day, i got rearended again by a drunk guy causing another 2000 damage so it was time to get rid of it. but i gotta love my dak, its alot faster! and thats all that really matters!...

yeah, my dak really has an awesome system in it, which could beat the hell out of any car (162 dB in a regular cab dak, beat that with one 10' sub!!!), but i'm way to broke to keep it, and i could spend the amount of money I spend on gas each month on car payments...sucks to be a student, but its worth it in the end. I'm an electronic engineering geek truely, and i will end up back with my dak in the end, thats all that matters (yeah thats right, i will be making the money i deserve in a year!!). ALL HAIL TO THE DAK!!!!!!
