Subject: Still popping after tie rod/ball joint

Message:
I just had a tie rod and 2 ball joints replaced 3 weeks ago and starting today I hear the popping when taking a sharp left handed turn such as parking. What could be going on?

Can you feel the pop in your steering column/steering wheel? Steering intermediate shaft is a fairly common early-wear item. Check for slop as the column passes thru engine bay.

My intermediate shaft was replaced on my '00 at 50k miles along with the steering rack. The tie rod ends were replaced at 30K miles to get rid of a shimmy that I had for about 12K miles prior and again with the new rack. Mind you I don't off road AT ALL! 98.5% of my mileage is highway. The sway bar bushings and rear leaf spring bushings have squeaked since new. I grease them regularly. I just bought a set of Moog ball joints to replace mine that are starting to make noise, but don't appear to be loose yet. Better safe than sorry!
