In the last couple of days, it seems like my shifter on my 5sp has gotten rean notchy. If there any fix for this? When I goto shift it into gears its not as smooth as it used to be? Is there a way to oil this? Or does that use the transmission oil. In that case what fluid do I use? I want a Mobile 1 synthetic product is there one for the manual 5spd?

Im not sure but i think the fluid in the hydralic clutch has nothing to do with the feel of the shifter. I might be wrong. But i think that any fluid given that there is no air should make the clutch feel smooth. As far as the shifter goes if thats notchy then i dont think the problem is the fluid. Maybe a linkage. But i dont know anything about the 5 speed used in the dakotas so dont take my word for it.

Has the weather been HOTTER than before or have you been driving at high speeds for hours when you experience the "nothcy" shifting?

I have experienced this after traveling at 60-70 mph for 3-4 hours then exit the freeway into a town. Then, after sitting at a stoplight for awhile the tranny fluid is so thin it shifts differently. (It was around 100 degrees that day)

It has been hot and I noticed my tranny was still warm to the touch three hours after driving it. Thats why Im wondering if I need to change the fluid... I just dont know what brand or type to goto. The book says Mopar Gear Oil, SEA 75W-90, or API GL-3 the only one I know of it redline and I dont know where I can get some locally..
