John Wilson:
From what I have learned in the past:
The seat belt activater is on the end of the seat belt intake (slack) section.
I removed mine by removing the panel at the lower end of the seat belt retractor and removing the sensor.
You will see the sensor when you remove this lower panel. This was on a 1997 2500 Dodge Diesel, but I think it is the same on the Dakotas.
Let me know if I have helped.

It is not the seat belt buzzer that is the problem. Often I will want to leave a door open and the key in the ignition and the buzzer goes off. The common situation is working on the truck or working in the field with the radio on. It is just a pain.

In fact we dont wear our seat belts on the farm and it only reminds you once.

I don't know about the 97's but my 90 and 92 had
a module under the dash with that buzzer. I just
simply unplugged it.

You'll have to let the buzzer do its thing while
you *find* where it's located.

My 02 is a different story. The *sound* was coming
from behind the drivers side kick panel. Maybe
yours is the same. If it is, cutting a foil trace
that feeds the buzzer/chime will silence it plus
any other reason that noise maker goes off for
B U T you'll still have all your warnings on the
dash show up ok.

Good luck..
