I'm having a tough time getting straight answers about how large a travel trailer I can tow. GCVR Looks to be 9800#, weight of the truck is roughly 4400#. That tells me my max trailer weight should be less than 4400#. Is that correct? Anyone pull a 25' travel trailer? Any issues?

Get the towing guide from your dealer. They usually have them in a case in the showroom. Dodge lists a Dakota QC with 4.7, auto and 3.55 as having a max. trailer weight of 4,800#. I pull a 25 ft. Sportsman ~ 4,300#. I Have an '01 QC with 4.7, 5-spd and 3.92 (max. trailer weight of 5,850#). I have an equilizer hitch, anti-sway bar, trailer brakes. I am pretty much maxed out, knew it when I bought my Dak. Your even closer to max. because of the 3.55. Other people will reply stopping is the concern, not pulling power, and that vehicle weight is the biggest issue. I can't argue with that at all. But, I am a very careful driver and have trailer brakes that work perfectly. I don't feel unsafe when stopping at all, and will do my best to not have to push the issue. I have towed the trailer, like 4,000 out of the 10,000 miles I have on my truck. Burn premium, it makes a big difference and helps with gas milage. Obviuusly stay out of OD or 5-th gear. Through Oklahoma on I-40 which has some hills, I drive like a trucker, speed up before a hill, WOT uphill. I hold my own though. Have passed semi's and other larger trucks pulling smaller trailers going up hills. You'll want to try to keep your RPM's where you get max. torque going up hill (i.e. around 3300 rpm.) That's tough enough with a 5-spd, even tougher with an auto. I will be going to Colorado for the first time a week from now. I expect to be in 2nd gear at about 35 mph when I crest La Veta Pass. Might be able to make it in 3rd, will see. I'd rather have a cummins for towing and my Dak for driving, then again I'd like alot of things. MOST OF ALL, BE PATIENT, ALERT AND CAREFUL. A SEMI CAN BLOW YOU OFF THE ROAD IN A HEARTBEAT IF YOU DON'T PAY ATTENTION, MOVE OVER. You probibly already know that.

'01QC, 4.7, z-tube, gibson, poweraid TB spacer, 180 T-stat, Jet Stage I chip (too cheap to run premium all the time) Mobil1.
